A Special Day for the DCs of ATHENA/ISI
Today marked a special moment for the doctoral candidates (DCs) from ATHENA Research Center – Industrial Systems Institute (ISI), as they welcomed a group of first-year middle school students from Corinth, a picturesque city in the Peloponnese, to the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department (CEID) at the University of Patras.
During the visit, Srushti Gangadhar Surpur and Adnan Rawass had the opportunity to introduce the students to emerging technologies in an engaging and accessible way. Through simple explanations and interactive discussions, they spoke about the fundamentals of 6G communication networks and Artificial Intelligence, helping young students understand how these technologies will shape the future.
As part of the presentation, the students were also introduced to the 6G-TERRAIN project, learning how advanced research can be transformed into practical technological solutions that impact everyday life. The session highlighted how innovation, research, and collaboration contribute to the development of next-generation digital technologies.
The students’ enthusiasm and curiosity created a lively and inspiring atmosphere, reinforcing the importance of initiatives that connect education and research. With their knowledge and engaging presentations, the doctoral candidates helped spark interest in science and technology among the young visitors, encouraging them to explore future opportunities in these fields.
We warmly thank the SMARTECH ATHENA/ISI research team for coordinating this initiative and for their continued efforts to bring knowledge, innovation, and cutting-edge research closer to the new generation.
